A Bag in Box (sometimes called a polypin) is simply a polythene bag with a built in tap in a cardboard box, very similar to a wine box.
The beer inside holds a little condition or CO2 gas but for obvious reasons cannot be carbonated (could be messy :) ).
The great thing about this method of dispensing ales is that as the beer is drawn off the bag collapses and does not let Air and Oxygen come into contact with the beer inside. This means that as long as the box is kept cool (9- 12'C) the beer will be OK for two weeks or more. The only thing that may happen once opened is that the condition (CO2) levels may drop, meaning head formation and retention may reduce.
Our beer boxes are filled directly from the cask to the Bag to order to ensure freshness and tapped onto the beer, meaning no oxygen is left in the bag.

Your Beers Journey, Grain to Glass.
Your beer is brewed in our 500 Litre Micro brewery, based in a Brick boat shed built in the 1600's to house the Wawne Ferry, on the banks of the River Hull, in the village of Wawne, East Yorkshire.

Once brewed and fermented it is taken from the fermenter into our Grundy Brite tank, a real Gem, made in the 1950s. After a few days at a low temperature the beer clears naturally, it is then casked and put into our fridge to condition and clear fully. This is where you come in !
Once your order is recieved your Bag in box is filled, always fresh and not stored in bags. It then sits in the fridge for 24 to 48 hours to let excess CO2 escape.
We like to have your beer picked up on a Wednesday, this service is specifically a Liquid and fragile, 24 hour service, we dont want your beer sat in a sorting office for a weekend!
So ideally please order over a weekend for delivery on the Thursday.

Another way to pour yourself a nice creamy beer is to 1/3 fill a pint glass and use a soup blender to for no more than a couple of seconds to create a creamy head, then top up the glass, Hey Presto!
